The Wamego Hospital Foundation recently purchased a Multirad Film Digitizer for Wamego City Hospital. Funds from the Foundation's recent fundraiser, Diamonds & Denim, were used to purchase the new film digitizer for the hospital. Carol Schleif, foundation director, stated "It is because of the tremendous support and generosity of the community that the Foundation is able to help the hospital out in time of need."
Paula Sazpansky, radiology director at the hospital, stated that "The iCAD film digitizer is part of our teleradiology system. It allows us to scan plain x-rays into the computer and send the images to an off-site radiologist in a matter of minutes." She explained that the film digitizer is ideal for emergency applications. She further stated that "When a patient comes to our hospital and has x-rays or a CT scan, we are able to send the films over a secure network so the radiologist can view and interpret them. This saves precious time and allows patients in our emergency department to receive the same quality of care found at a larger medical center."
Charlie White, foundation board member, stated that "This is just one more way the partnership with Mercy Regional Health Center is important to the hospital as radiology exams can be sent to Mercy and with their advanced software they are able to forward x-rays to a hospital in any state."
Mark Aldridge, hospital CEO said, "We at Wamego City Hospital want to sincerely thank the Foundation for all their hard work for, and support of WCH and our Physician's Office, Wamego Family Health Care. This allocation of funds to Imaging Services will be a great asset to the community."
