Broberg accepts CEO position at Wamego City Hospital (6/29/07)

Lance White, Wamego Hospital Association board chairman, has announced that John Broberg has accepted the CEO position at Wamego City Hospital on a permanent basis.

Broberg has served as interim CEO since March 20, 2007. Broberg has more than 30 years' experience in health care. Most recently, he has consulted with various organizations on improving performance. He has been working with Wamego City Hospital leadership to implement best practices to improve organizational performance.

"John has done an excellent job of relationship building in the community and making improvements at Wamego City Hospital," says White. "We have seen improvements in employee satisfaction and patient satisfaction and the hospital continues to perform strongly financially.

" Broberg helped organize a successful strategic planning session for Wamego City Hospital in May. Participants included the Wamego City Hospital Association, the hospital's board of directors and foundation, medical staff members and representatives from the City of Wamego, Mercy Regional Health Center and Via Christi Health System. A representative from USD 320 participated as did a CEO from a high performing critical access hospital.

The planning session resulted in the Wamego City Hospital Vision for 2012 - Superior Niche Care in a Rural Community. Broberg will work with the hospital's leadership team to develop an action plan to accomplish the goals set for the next fiscal year.

"I have enjoyed working with the hospital and medical staff," says Broberg. "I am impressed with the commitment to teamwork and the focus on patient care." Broberg says he will continue to focus on building the strengths of Wamego City Hospital and improving the hospital's opportunities.

Broberg and his wife, Suzie, say they are impressed with Wamego and look forward to relocating to the community.
